Florida Favorites: Featuring Travel Blogger Ruthie Turner

I’m interviewing fellow travel bloggers to find out about their favorite things about the Sunshine State.

Next on my list is travel blogger, Ruthie Turner. Based in St. Petersburg, Fla., Ruthie shares her travel tips and insights on her blog Ruthie’s Routes. A budding photographer, Ruthie loves to visit new places and immerse herself in the tastes and smells of different cultures. She also loves an adventure and enjoys exploring her home state.

Let’s find out about Ruthie’s favorite places to stay, dine and play in St. Pete Beach.

Where to Stay:

Known as the Pink Palace, the Loews Don Cesar Hotel is located on a wide stretch of white sand beach. I love the excellent service and gorgeous views of the Gulf of Mexico. The Spa Oceana, fitness room and shops are a few of the luxurious amenities that this resort offers. I enjoy spending time at the north pool, relaxing in the sunshine with my family.

Where to Dine:

If you are looking for a local restaurant to grab breakfast or lunch, the Seahorse Restaurant is the place to go. Located on the southern end of St. Pete Beach, it is open daily and features reasonable prices. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm and friendly staff and the delicious aroma of home-style cooking. For breakfast, I enjoy the french toast with butter and powdered sugar. Dine outside in the covered seating area and enjoy lovely water views.

Where to Play:

There’s no better place to enjoy the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, than the Pass-A-Grille section of St. Pete Beach. Grab a boogie board and hit the waves. My family loves to spend hours splashing around and enjoying the perfect year-round weather. Make sure you stay long enough to catch one of our stunning sunsets.
