Citrus-Infused Spa Treatments Inspired by the Sunshine State #BloggingFL

Citrus-Infused Spa TreatmentsDid you know that the fruit of citrus trees symbolize love and happiness for certain cultures? Oranges certainly play an important roll in the community and in the economy in Florida. We eat them, drink them and even put them on our skin. Well, actually we put Vitamin C on our skin, which is found in citrus fruit.

Way back in the day, Nostradamus wrote about how to use citrus blossoms to make cosmetics. Kings and queens of ancient times built entire gardens filled with citrus trees. Oranges, lemons and limes exchanged hands along the trade routes to the Far East and it’s believed that Christopher Columbus brought the first oranges to the New World in the late 15th century. Today in Florida, orange groves are a multi-billion dollar industry.

Whether you’re curious about the history or just want to indulge in the anti-aging properties, citrus fruits can do a lot of good.

For example, Vitamin C is packed with antioxidants that help turn back the clock. It helps your body form collagen, which smooths fine lines and wrinkles. And I don’t know about you, but I need all the help I can get.

I’ve rounded up a list of a few of my favorite citrus-infused spa treatments across the Sunshine State.

Miami

In the Magic City where there’s something to do 24/7, it’s important to take some time to relax and rejuvenate. Head to the JW Marriott Marquis in downtown Miami and try the Enliven Signature Vitamin C Facial ($160). This treatment infuses a formulation of pure Vitamin C into the skin, helping to repair elasticity and prevent fine lines and wrinkles.

Marco Island

Get your Vitamin C fix from head to toe at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf & Spa. If you like body soaks, then the Clementine Sparkling Soak is a great way to enliven your senses and completely relax in your own private bath. Or try the Ultimate Moroccanoil mani and pedi ($90 each). Using a scrub made of orange peels, this treatment will gently exfoliate your skin and stimulate your senses.

Fort Lauderdale

Escape to the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa and try their Signature Citrus Bodyglow ($145). This treatment includes a combination of citrus oils and sea salts that act as an exfoliant to buff the skin and remove toxins. You’ll also receive an application of key lime moisturizer, which will not only smell fantastic, but will also make your skin feel soft and smooth.
