3 Miami Neighborhoods to Visit This Summer

Emily Creswick of Zillow suggests three Miami neighborhoods to visit this summer.

Miami is popular tourist destination all year round due to its warm sunshine, golden beaches, boutique shopping and endless dining options. As temperatures cool in northern states from November to April, large crowds of U.S. and international vacationers flock to Miami where the sun stays shining.

While autumn and winter seasons are prime times to visit Miami, hotel and amenity rates tend to spike and visitors have to deal with swarms of tourists.

For those looking to avoid the crowds and enjoy a more relaxed and less lively Miami atmosphere, the best season to visit is summer, between June and September. The weather is hot and the tourist attractions are easily accessible. Here are some great neighborhoods to check out.

1. South Beach

South Beach is known for being an ultra-hip and ritzy neighborhood day or night. Ocean Drive is the buzzing main strip of the neighborhood and the gateway to the stunning Miami coastline. For a taste of historic South Beach, check out the Art Deco District. The area boasts unique architecture including revitalized boutique-style hotels and is perfect to indulge in dining and retail therapy throughout the day. In the evening, head back to the Ocean Drive strip to check out Miami’s hottest club scene. Recover the next day at one of the many hotel rooftop pool parties.

2. Key Biscayne

Just west off the mainland and south of downtown is Key Biscayne, a lush beach town that blends a relaxed Miami attitude with the natural beauty of the ocean. Key Biscayne is the perfect neighborhood for those looking to soak up the sun on miles of golden sand beaches. Popular summer activities include the Miami Seaquarium, golfing at Crandon Park Golf Course or swimming and kayaking in the pristine waters of the bay.

Coral Gables is filled with fine boutiques and specialty stores making it a retail addict’s dream. The most popular shopping destinations include the Miracle Mile and Merrick Park. Both spots specialize in traditional artisanal product boutiques and specialty stores, sure to provide the best in retail therapy. The neighborhood is also filled with quaint eateries, delicious restaurants and chic cocktail bars. Be sure to check out the Venetian Pool, a rejuvenated rock quarry swimming pool boasting peaceful waterfalls. Coral Gables is a beautiful place to cool off and relax after a busy day of shopping.
