Plan a Girl’s Getaway to Fort Lauderdale

Itching to getaway with just the girls? Check out this post I wrote for Marriott’s Travel Blog:

A beach vacation could cure that desire to escape for a little R&R with your best gal pals. With fall travel deals running rampant, this could be the perfect time to book your trip to Florida.

Book a Spa Day and Completely Unwind

View at Harbor Beach Marriott
Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

In sunny Fort Lauderdale, September is Spa Chic Month and you know what that means — killer deals on massages, facials, body wraps and all kinds of heavenly spa treatments for only $99.

Head over to SiSpa at Pompano Beach Marriott Resort & Spa and book the 80-minute Seatonic Firming Body Wrap with Paraffin Hand or Foot Treatment. An anti-aging, firming, post sun soothing treatment, this full body wrap boosts skin’s firmness, hydrates, and tone. Then select from either a paraffin hand or foot treatment — it’s all included in the $99 package.

Or try the 50-minute Zen Aromatherapy Massage at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. It’s a light Swedish technique that will relax your senses and improve circulation. For only $99, you’ll also indulge in a Zen Mani, a classic manicure with your choice of aromatherapy scent (yes, you get the massage AND the mani — score).

Spend the Day on Las Olas Boulevard and the Beach

When you’re all relaxed and ready to explore the city, head down to tree-lined Las Olas Boulevard, where you’ll find outdoor cafés and lovely boutiques. Stroll along the picturesque downtown, sip a latte and do a little people watching. Grille 401, a trendy and upscale restaurant, features great happy hour specials.

Or if you like history, stop by the Stranahan House, a preserved home from the 1900s that’s brimming with beautiful antiques. Both the Museum of Art of Fort Lauderdale and the Museum of Discovery & Science are also located on Las Olas Boulevard. On Sundays, visit the Las Olas Gourmet Farmers Market located at Las Olas and 12th Street.

Of course, the beach is the perfect place to unwind and soak up some sun. From Las Olas Bouelvard, hop on either the Water Taxi or the Sun Trolley and spend some time with your toes in the sand. There’s a beachfront promenade across the street from hotels and restaurants along A1A and it’s the perfect place to hang out on the beach.

Once the sun sets it’s time to heat up your evening with drinks under the stars and maybe a little dancing. Located along A1A there are a number of fun, laid-back bars like the Elbo Room and Rock Bar, with open-air patios where you can sip on a cocktail and listen to live music.

Or head back over to Las Olas to experience the lounge scene. O Lounge at YOLO, Vibe, SoLita are great places to socialize. Try American Social for a huge selection of craft beers and pour-it-yourself taps.

For more of a Vegas-style club scene, Seminole Paradise features 18 themed eateries, 13 high-energy clubs plus Hard Rock Live featuring headliner talent. You’ll probably want to cab it because it’s located a little farther south of downtown Fort Lauderdale in Hollywood.
