New Luxury Resort in Key West Debuts this Fall

A 96-room independent, luxury hotel called The Marker Waterfront Resort is scheduled to open it’s doors in historic Old Town Key West this October and I can’t wait to see it. The new hotel is named in honor of the mile markers that lead to the southernmost point of the U.S.

The property is located on the edge of the Key West Historic Seaport, on nearly two acres of waterfront land and is built in the style of classic conch architecture that we all know and love. Check out the rendering below:

The fresh and contemporary interior design also pays tribute to its location. Inspired by the island, the designer wove in subtle tropical finishes throughout, in the form of beautiful hard woods, caning, locally produced textiles and some tongue-in-cheek references to an old sea captains home.

“The Marker tells the story of a modern day Key West with understated hints to ‘Old Florida Luxury,’” says Singh Company’s Ann Johnson, who spearheaded the property’s interior design. “The vision for The Marker was to create an authentic experience and strong sense of place that celebrates the Key West community and the hotel’s historic waterfront location.”

A refreshing perspective and reinterpreted take on “Classic Key West” can be found in each of the guest rooms, in the form of clean, white furnishings, touches of dark woods and luxe cream draperies juxtaposed with modern elements. Splashes of azure and turquoise hues accent the space and call to mind the crystal clear waters of the keys and the harbor that is just a few steps away.
