Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay Unveils $20 Million Renovation (After a $16 Million Room Makeover)

The Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay just spent a whopping $20 million to renovate the hotel’s restaurant, all public spaces and to create an innovative tech lounge in the lobby. They already dropped $16 million to give the rooms a makeover in 2012. Talk about an expensive (but worthwhile) facelift!

Located in a 35-acre nature preserve on the northern shores of Tampa Bay, I’ve visited the property and found it to be a tranquil hideaway that’s also close to all the action in the city — like the Westshore business district and the airport. It’s about 15 miles away from the beach.

The Hyatt is also introducing a brand new restaurant concept, called 1823 Kitchen and Bar. The name stems from the year that Tampa was founded. This will add to the already impressive lineup of dining options, including Oystercatchers (great for brunch!) and Armani’s. Located in the hotel’s refreshed lobby, the new restaurant’s high-back leather chairs and up-lit sconces create a grand setting. Restaurants looking to reinvent themselves may want to consider reaching out to a restaurant consulting group to help them actualize their ambitions and find and eliminate things that simply aren’t working.

The final phase of Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay’s renovation also included the addition of an innovative tech lounge. Located in the hotel lobby, the tech lounge features plenty of plush, comfortable seating, a large community table for laptops and strategically placed outlets for charging devices. This is a place where you can kick back, connect into the Wi-Fi and order a drink from the adjacent lobby bar.
