Fun Things to do in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale is the perfect place to unwind and soak up some sun or plan a jam-packed vacation full of fun things to do.

Hit the Beach

Among the most popular in Florida, Fort Lauderdale Beach runs the length of North Atlantic Boulevard and features towering resorts, great dining venues and palm-fringed sandy havens. There’s a beachfront promenade across the street from hotels and restaurants along A1A and it’s the perfect place to hang out on the beach. A small beach village offering a welcoming atmosphere and artistic vibe, the beach at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is where you’ll find a popular fishing pier, a handful of local shops and a colorful collection of Adirondack chairs.

Shop ’till you Drop

Head down to tree-lined Las Olas Boulevard, where you’ll find outdoor cafés and shops. Stroll along the picturesque downtown, sip a latte and do a little people watching. Also known as Fort Lauderdale’s “style mile,” Las Olas is a great spot to shop local boutiques. On Sundays, visit the Las Olas Gourmet Farmers Market located at Las Olas and 12th Street. Or head out west to Sawgrass Mills to peruse more than 300 designer outlets.

Stroll the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk

Discover the old-fashioned charm of the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, a 2.5-mile pathway lined with seaside cafes and local shops on the beach in Hollywood, located just south of Fort Lauderdale. Catch a free oudoor concert at the Hollywood Beach Theater and visit Josh’s Organic Garden for tropical smoothies and fresh, locally grown produce. It’s also home to the brand new Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. And yes, it is called the “Broadwalk” not boardwalk. Hop aboard the trolley to Arts Park in Young Circle.

Get Your Art & Culture Fix

Fort Lauderdale has a variety of art and cultural institutions. Catch a play or concert at the Broward Center for Performing Arts or the Stage Door Theater. Wander around the 35-acre Bonnet House Museum & Gardens. Or if you like history, stop by the Stranahan House, a preserved home from the 1900s that’s brimming with beautiful antiques. Both the Museum of Art of Fort Lauderdale and the Museum of Discovery & Science are also located on Las Olas Boulevard.

Go Bar-Hopping via Water Taxi

Embark on a bar-hopping adventure via the Water Taxi and cruise along the Intracoastal Waterway with killer views of Millionaire’s Row and the “Venice of America.”
